Originally from Melbourne, James has built a diverse career as an actor and director in Australia and beyond. In 2017, as part of earning his Master’s Degree in Directing from the VCA, James assisted director Lonny Price on his production of Carousel for the English National Opera, London.
Performance credits include Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest (Artefact Theatre Co), Burrs in La Chiura’s The Wild Party, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown (dir. Bryce Ives), Passion, Reefer Madness and Forbidden Broadway’s Greatest Hits. He played Harold Hill in The Music Man (MTGV Best Actor Award) and Clown 1 in The 39 Steps. As a vocalist, James has toured Australia and New Zealand in California Dreaming (JTM) and internationally with AIDA Cruises.
A prolific director, James’s credits include Urinetown, Side Show, Floyd Collins, Sweeney Todd, Parade (The Collective), In The Heights and Titanic (StageArt), The Last Five Years (KWM Australia) and Gilligan’s Island (Left Bauer Productions).
